Earlier in this month, federal law enforcement seized a record-breaking amount of methamphetamine.

On October 14, 2020 the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration confirmed that its seizure of 2,224 pounds of meth on October 2, 2020 was the biggest meth bust in the agency’ history.

According to DEA reports, the meth seized is allegedly part of the drug trafficking operations of a criminal syndicate connected to the Sinaloa cartel.

Warrants were issued for raiding several drug houses in cities such as Moreno Valley and Perris. This meth bust was not the only one that recently took place in the area. On October 9, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized over 3,000 pounds of meth at San Diego’s Otay Mesa border crossing.

Mexican drug cartels take advantage of the fact that Mexico is a failed state and have become major players in the international drug trade. One of their primary destinations for their illicit goods is the U.S. With such a massive consumer base and a culture that is gradually degrading the U.S. represents a lucrative spot for cartels to tap into.

The Sinaloa Cartel, which was headed by Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera, is a major heavyweight in the drug trafficking business. According to reports from the DEA, the Sinaloa Cartel controlled 60 percent of Mexico’s drug trade by 2012 and were also pulling in $3 billion in annual revenues, Although, El Chapo was arrested back in 2016 to be later extradited to the U.S., where he received a life sentence for drug, murder, and money laundering charges,  the Sinaloa Cartel is still alive and well in Mexico.

Not only that, there are plenty of other cartels such as Jalisco Nueva Generación that will gladly fill up any space that the Sinaloa Cartel and other Mexican cartels have lost. Mexico is a mess and that’s putting it lightly.

The very least the U.S. could do is secure itself from a Third World wasteland that has a drug cartel epidemic, which could spread to the U.S. and create unprecedented chaos for millions of Americans. All things considered, President Trump’s border wall doesn’t seem like such a crazy idea after all.
