How many times do we have to pound it into the GOP leadership’s heads that Trumpism is here to say?
Yeah, Trump lost in 2020 , largely in part due to voter fraud and listening to his cucked advisers when it came to racial issues. But guess what?
He won’t be going away. And that’s simply because the Republican voter base does not want a return to the Bush era. According to a Quinnipiac University poll released two days after his acquittal in the Senate, three-fourths of Republicans want former President Donald Trump to play a major role in the Republican Party. It’s almost as if the media pundits and the neocon mouthpieces in corporate media are wrong about the Trump effect.
Similarly, 87% of Republicans believe that Trump should not be legally prevented from holding future office. “He is certainly not out of favor with the GOP. Twice impeached, vilified by Democrats in the trial, and virtually silenced by social media… despite it all, Donald Trump keeps a solid foothold in the Republican Party,” Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy observed when the poll data was released on February 15.
On February 13, 2021, the Senate pulled off one of the largest forms of political theater by voting 57-43 to convict Trump. This was 10 votes below the 67 vote threshold needed for conviction. Trump was acquitted of the charge of “incitement of insurrection,” an allegation that Trump’s legal team and most ardent supporters viewed as a farce.
Anyone with a functioning brain recognized that the acquittal was going down no matter what. The best predictor of this was after 45 Senate Republicans voted to declare this impeachment proceeding unconstitutional.
Trump is here to stay, folks.
GOP leadership would be wise to recognize that in a time when cultural radicalism is getting cranked up to unprecedented levels, America First nationalism is the only force that can keep the country afloat. If GOP leaders don’t comprehend this new reality, they should be harshly reminded of it during the 2022 primaries.
This is Trump’s world, and all these swamp creatures must submit.
