According to sources, the victims traveled with their parents interstate to have Nargawala perform the brutal procedure. This is the first ever case in the united states that was brought under charges under 18 U.S.C. 116 which makes FGM a criminal act in the United States and rightfully so.
Surprisingly, Buzzed were one of the first news outlets to report on the occurrence. The left leaning outlet posted the below tweet and articles.

Female genital mutilation (FGM), also known as female genital cutting, is the ritual removal of most if not all of the external female genitalia, including the clitori . The practice is found in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and within Muslim communities from countries in which FGM is common.
Some consider FGM as a religious and cultural practice. The purpose of this illegal practice is to suppress female sexuality in order to reduce sexual pleasure.
The investigation revealed that in one particular case, a 7-year-old was brought by her family from Minnesota. An investigation into phone records revealed their location. The child was interviewed on April 10. She stated that she was brought to Detroit for “special girls trip.”
