Trump Talks Guns With NRA, Exciting Words For 2nd Amendment Supporters
Today President Trump gave a talk in front of the NRA, the last president to do so was Ronald Reagan in 1983. For many conservatives who think Reagan was our last truly great president, this talk held particular significance. In his discussion, Trump spoke about another first.
“For the first time in the modern political era, we have confirmed a justice in the first 100 days, the last time that happened was 146 years ago.”
Sticking with the theme of firsts, he also spoke about how Ryan Zinke repealed the lead ammunition ban on his first day in office. For those of you unaware of the ban, it was one of the last things undertaken by the Obama administration to push big government policies on Americans.
‘8 Year Assault On 2nd Amendment Freedoms Has Come To A Crashing End’
Even though states understand that lead can be harmful to the environment, several states refuse to legislate these bans. One example is Utah where wildlife officials encourage big-game hunters to use steel ammunition in condor areas or haul out the deer guts. The state has shied away from a lead ban under the belief that voluntary measures promote better compliance.
Trump reaffirmed his support of Police as well as law and order. Something our previous administration failed to do for eight years. Some of the more exciting quotes from Trump for second amendment supporters were:
“Responsible gun ownership saves lives and the right to self defense is essential to public safety.”
“The eight year assault on your 2nd Amendment freedoms has come to a crashing end.”
“When you ban guns, only the criminals will be armed.”
“For too long, Washington has gone hard on law abiding gun owners, while making things easier on gangs and criminals.”
“No longer will federal agencies be coming after law abiding gun owners.”
“You have a true friend and champion in the White House.”
“Let me make a simple promise, as your president I will never, ever infringe on the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Never, ever.”
One concern for citizens living in states like California is that liberal Governors like Jerry Brown, acting unconstitutionally, will infringe upon the second amendment at the state level.
The President said that it would take cooperation from governors to protect the second amendment, but in many states, that help will not be forthcoming. It will be up to grass roots right wing movements to push for the preservation of these rights in California and similar states where leftist state leaders perpetually work to dismantle civil liberties.
