Outrageous! Irregularities, Insider Dealings, Artificially Inflated Prices, All Alleged As A Result Of Last Second Obama ‘Politics’ …
The $418 million U.S. Arms sale to Kenya was approved by the Obama administration on literally Obama’s last day in office. It was then affirmed by John Kerry’s State Department, with the required certification to notify the U.S. Congress of the approved sale being delivered to Capitol Hill on January 19, before being publicly announced on the Monday after President Trump was inaugurated.
In the deal, the Kenyan government is to receive 12 Air Tractor AT-802L and two AT-504 trainer aircraft, all of which Breitbart News, in an exclusive article, describes as “weaponized crop-duster-like planes,” plus technical support and program management, for missions against Somali Islamist terrorist group al-Shabaab. The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) stated that “The platform maximizes the Kenyan Defense Force’s close air support ability because it is a short-field aircraft capable of using precision munitions and cost effective logistics and maintenance,” according to a report by Africa News.
The Breitbart report states that several Congressmen, led by Representative Ted Budd (R-NC), are planning to request a non-partisan investigation into highly questionable irregularities in the arms deal as early as later this week. At the heart of the matter is the question as to why major defense firm L3 Technologies was awarded the contract to produce the planes, when they have never before produced this type of plane in their history. Meanwhile, a smaller company in North Carolina, owned by a disabled veteran, that already produces the type of planes requested at a far lower cost, was never even considered. The smaller company, IOMAX USA Inc., out of Mooresville, North Carolina, had previously priced the cost to produce the fourteen planes at only $237 million as opposed to the $418 million price from L3 Technologies, according to an aide for Rep. Budd.
‘It Looks Like Politics’
“It looks like politics,” Budd said in a phone interview with Breitbart News. “Why are they sending it to someone that’s produced zero, for twice the price? This is inappropriate.” Georgia Democrat Sanford Bishop will also join Republicans in signing a letter that will be sent to the Kenyan ambassador to the United States. The letter says in part, “We believe Kenya would benefit by exploring its options in regard to this acquisition,” Breitbart News reported. “We ask that the Government of Kenya take these facts, in particular, the prospect of an ongoing congressional investigation of this sale, under consideration as it decides whether or not to proceed with this arms purchase,” the letter says.
These concerned Lawmakers have resorted to the request for an investigation only after fruitless attempts at discerning how the New York-based L3 Technologies was given the “sole-source” primary contract, meaning that there is just one source for the desired equipment, or that just one single supplier can meet the requirements. Yet, IOMAX was never contacted about the contract and did not become aware of it until the State Department made its public announcement on the Monday after President Trump’s Inauguration.
No Concrete Answers
The misguided handling of this weapons contract is in direct contravention of multiple traditional steps and processes that would normally take place throughout the DSCA, an “implementing agency,” the Pentagon, and the State Department. In this case, Lawmakers believe that “the implementing agency – an Air Force acquisition office, known as the ‘Big Safari’ at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, steered the contract to L3,” according to Breitbart. Still, the Air Force, DSCA, Pentagon, and the State Department, which is supposed to be in charge of the process, are all lacking of any concrete answers to this debacle.
IOMAX is only about 1/10 the size of L3 Technologies. It is not only owned by a retired Army aviator, but very nearly half of its employees are veterans, many from special operations forces. Budd finds it “infuriating” that his constituents such as these could unfairly have a deal like this taken away from them just because of politics. He also recently had a meeting with the Kenyan Deputy Chief of Mission and said afterward the Deputy was “flabbergasted” about possibly paying almost $200 million more than required. Budd has introduced a joint resolution to halt the Arms sale into the House of Representatives.
‘Shadow Government’ Subterfuge
The State Department already had a myriad of problems stemming from Hillary Clinton’s superfluous subterfuge in her turn as Secretary of State, and then it was immediately thrust into the incompetent care of John Kerry. Even in their absence now, we are still suffering as a nation at the hands of the remaining remnants of their loyal cadres and cohorts still ensconced at State, embittered and emboldened of hyper-partisan anger to unconstitutionally act as a “shadow government” against this nation’s lawfully elected leaders.
And this country’s former leader served as no better example as he connived and conned with his sycophants of State and all other departments of the bloated, bureaucratic, governmental leviathan. Former President Obama committed a multitude of questionable actions in the waning moments of his presidency. This $418 million Kenyan Armaments deal represents but a minute sampling of what corruption he and his cohorts could be complicit in. What are all of the ramifications the American people may suffer from in the many last minute machinations by President Barack Hussein Obama on his way out? It is impossible to even hazard an estimation. Yet, we had probably better attempt to steel ourselves in the anticipation.
